Church Facilities
Education Building
At Henning Memorial United Methodist Church, we are blessed with a wonderful church campus. This campus is truly a vehicle in which and through which the mission and the ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ can and does happen.
Completed in 2001, this 12,000 square foot building was built to increase our existing education space for children and adults; to grow our Preschool ministry; and to provide our choir rehearsal space and new music library. This annex compliments the existing education space which has undergone an 'extreme makeover'. Renovations include administration space, a new parlor, library, and updated kitchen.
Sanctuary
Serving the congregation since 1955, the sanctuary is the place where the church family gathers for worship, communion, baptism, weddings, and funerals.
Mustard Seed
In 1975, W.L. and J.T.Henning gave their parent's home, located across the street from the church, to be used as an adult activity center. Subsequently, this building was named the Mustard Seed. Today, it serves as home for many senior activities including: ceramics, quilting, sewing, and monogramming. It also is a place for United Methodist Women circle groups to meet.
Youth House
The United Methodist Youth Foundation recently obtained the old administrative building for a teen hang-out. The Youth House is being used as an afterschool "hangout" on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 - 5 pm for visiting, homework help, games, and eventually small group meetings. The Senior High Sunday School Class will also meet in the Youth House on Sundays at 9:15am. A Senior High Prayer Breakfast is held Monday mornings at 7:00AM. This facility and its proximity to Sulphur High provides an amazing opportunity for our young adults to grow in God's light.
Key Hall
The orginal Key Hall was built in 1969, along with the construction of the original education building. It was renovated in 2000, along with the sanctuary. It is used throughout the week in conjunction with the Preschool Day Care. Key Hall is also used for wedding receptions, dinners, Sunday school, and various church / community events. Key Hall was named after the Key family who had donated the property to the church.
Family Life Center
In 1986, Henning Memorial United Methodist Church built a Family Life Center in an effort to provide growth and wellness for our children, youth, and family ministries. The Family Life Center has become a central part of our life as a church community. It is the place where church dinners and events are held. The Family Life Center, also, house the youth ministry for youth group, meetings, recreation, and of course our walkers. This facility hosts a variety of community events as well.
