Louisiana State Representative Mike Danahay gave a short recap of the voting results of constitutional amendments one through seven at last week’s Sulphur Sunrise Rotary meeting.
Amendment Numbers 1, 2 and 3, dealing with terms limits for board members, time limits on calling special sessions, and temporarily filling the seats of legislators called to active duty all passed.
In reference to the remaining amendments on the ballot Danahay said, “4, 5, 6, and 7, we ran into a little problem. What happened here, we believe, is just strictly in the language. We started talking about taxes. And when you start talking about a tax, just immediately people went negative on it. Unfortunately, there were some very good things in these amendments.”
